Encuentra las diferencias (DOS?¿ y Norton Commander ?¿)

Increíble fluidéz de funcionamiento. Realmente si no lo decís hubiese pensado que es una 486.
Me dio sospecha ver los juegos de donde arrancaban, ahí pensé que estabas corriendo accesos directos o .bats o algo asi. Pero la verdad, captura todo el espíritu de la época de Dos.

Esto es un soft corriendo en win7 entiendo? Es como un frontend de emuladores?

Bueno, dosbox no lo introduzco


Basicamente lo que hice, fue compilar una version propia de dosbox con la consola desabilitada, para que muestre lo minimo posible de texto que no sea el original de DOS

O sea, que desde que ejecutas el dosbox.exe hasta que arranca el juego, no muestre nada. A veces no puedo evitar que muestre comandos tipo "mount" pero tambien es necesario verlos si hay algun error, al menos saber porque


Puedo correr los ejecutables directamente, ejecuto el exe de DOS, detecta que no es un ejecutable de windows, y lo arranca directo con dosbox

Lo que hice es una base de datos, con configuraciones independientes por juego, diferentes resoosluciones, si usa MT-32, adlib, GUS o GM, configuraciones personalizadas de teclado...etc

Por eso , site fijas, veras que suelo cargar archivos de lote CMD o AHK, es basicamente lo que antes hacias con un BAT, tipo podias ejecutar el opwolf.exe o si querias mouse y adlib, hacias un bat con "opwolf.exe a m"

Suplante esos viejos bat, con archivos CMD mas modenos, con comandos extras, para ocultar cualquier veztigio de windows, o archivos auto hot key (AHK) cuando se necesitan de comandos extras, con emuladores o juegos que tienen cosas que en DOS no deverian estar, por ejemplo, un "splashscreen" en su port a windows, que arruinaria el efecto


Tambien otra cosa con la que me puse fue buscar y en caso de no existir, recompilar todas las aplicaciones posibles de DOS en formato win32, para dar una experiencia autentica

Por ejemplo, en vez del QBASIC de DOS, uso el QB64, que es identico, y asi con toda aplicacion posible


Y luego detalles, como replicar las fuentes originales del DOS, o que dosbox detecte si hay comandos despues de un juego para no perder detalle, tipo el commander keen, que al salir del juego, muestra un texto. Lo redirecciono a la consola normal, asi puedo leerlo si me interesa


Es muy emocionante, porque no es un frontend ni nada similar, realmente es el viejo DOS modernizado, con muchas aplicaciones compiladas para win32 (en vez del Doom, el prboom por ejemplo), otras usando interpretes nativos (scummvm), y las que no se pueden, que de forma transparente, cargen dosbox

El Furry of The Furries se caga a partir del nivel de las arenas del bichito que va por el agua y la bola del Epic Pinball no se siente igual. En su momento tampoco andaba el Baryon.. Quizás ya lo arreglaron.

Eso no quita ningún mérito a tu trabajo, se ve muy bien.

Y entiendo tu punto tengo como 3 o 4 computadoras viejas dando vueltas, una de estas es justamente la que te ofreci..

Respecto a los monitores un VGA viejo (que no sea siquiera SVGA, o sea solo 640x480) y un LCD/TFT/LED aunque ambos sean VGA, te pega en la nostalgia porque yo los veo distintos

En caso que un juego no tire bien con dosbox, podes lanzarlo con PCem

PCem basicamente emula todo el PC, es un poco complejo, pero podes hacer un floppy boteable virtual, cargar PCem con ese floppy, y tendrias un autoboot automatico mas o menos bonito



La era DOS es jodida, porque abarca muchos años, y muchas plataformas, ensima del mismo juego, hay varias versiones... te puede gustar la VGA a ti, a mi la EGA, y al vecino la CGA...

Pero bueno, por ahora, la version 0.74 de Dosbox parece ir bien, aunque yo tambien tengo mis quejas puntuales



Tambien por otro lado, una de las ventajas de tener un "DOS moderno" es que no estas limitado a DOS, digo, si el Fury Of The Furries de PC no fuera ni a tiros en dosbox, en vez de cargar la version de PC, cargas la de amiga, de forma transparente y listo


Yo que se, en vez de usar el comando

dosbox fury.exe

usas el de

winuae fury.cfg


por decir algo, y es transparente, ni te enteras que version es hasta q carga el juego

Una opcion tambien para juegos de DOS son sus ports en win32, muchas veces, son identicos, asi nos ahorran tener que andar emulando dos


Aca un listado que fui recompilando, de ports a windows. No necesariamente todos son ports (scummvm es un interprete) si no mas bien tomenlo como un "se puede jugar en windows nativamente"

Algunos son diferentes asi que me sigo quedando con la version de DOS si es posible, como el Tim Machine

Pero en otros casos, como el Commander Genius, realmente vale la pena usar codigo nativo, es lo mismo
