""The days of blurry screens and poor illumination are over for the Game Gear. Sega’s handheld has just been given a much needed upgrade through a group of enthusiasts in Japan. The newly released GGLCD is a DIY upgrade for the system which not only provides a stunning and clear display, but also the ability to output RGB video onto both TVs and monitors.
Allowing you to connect the handheld upto a 3.5” LCD display which sits inside the handheld, the GGLCD board scales up the Game Gear’s visuals to 320x240 along with what appears to be completely blur-free gaming. While this does mean that the original 160x144 display has been squished a little vertically (once scaled up), the results are simply astounding.
After soldering the GGLCD onto the handheld’s mainboard, retro gamers also have the option of creating their very own TV out connector too. On the other side of this custom board are several connections for RGB video, all of which can be soldered to either an VGA connector or RGB cable. As said, this is purely optional if you’d prefer to just use the crisp new screen on your handheld.
This brand new piece of kit is something Game Gear gamers have been longing for, and understandably the first batch of GGLCD units have already sold out to those in Japan. Costing around £49 for the board, it’s also important to note that the 3.5” LCD screen does not come bundled with the device. It is recommended that those attempting the modification purchase one of the project’s recommended LCD screens for use.

Recientemente pudimos ver este mod en otras consolas portátiles, ahora llega a la portátil estrella de Sega.
Jo, si pudiera conseguir eso sin duda coleccionaria GG... o sea, como portatil me encanta, pero me tira muy para atras que la pantalla sea tan chota, y que no exista una forma 'simple' de mejorarla...
Creo que se puede aprovechar muchísimo más, y mejor, ahora que en su momento de lanzamiento. A esto súmenle las pilas recargables de larga duración y que por 77 verdes más envío tenés un cartucho flash.
Creo que existia algo asi para la nomad, pero no para la GG. O, si lo habia, requeria de no se que aparatejo para sintonizar tv (es eso o estoy mandando fruta mal).
Igual, sobre la psp, el tema es que no es lo mismo que tener el semejante armatoste en las manos...
