Let’s talk a little about the number 765, and why it shows up so often in Namco games.
765 is what’s known as their goroawase number; it’s a form of clever Japanese wordplay. “7” in Japanese is “nana”, shortened to “na”; “6” in Japanese is muttsu, shortened to “m”; “5” in Japanese is “go”, changed to voiceless form “ko”. So, “765” = “na-m-ko” or “na-mu-ko” for Japanese pronunciation.
